To meet the basic qualification for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. In addition, to be a good fit for the Maintenance Supervisor opportunity, you will have:
  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent required; an associate's or bachelor's degree preferred
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of progressive maintenance and leadership experience in a fast-paced facility including:
    • Proven supervisory skills (i.e. leading/supervising a team, planning and scheduling maintenance work, prioritization, etc.) Quick question for you - click here
    • Advanced technical and working knowledge in maintaining production line equipment; experience with automation is highly preferred
  • Knowledge of:
    • Preventative maintenance techniques; the ability to develop preventative maintenance programs preferred
    • Operating budgets; ability to analyze and forecast variances
    • Electrical power distribution; ability to read basic electrical diagrams, basic instrumentation, and PLCs
    • Programming, mechanical and hydraulic systems as well as 480-volt electrical safety practices
    • Ammonia refrigeration systems, lubrication requirements, and water treatment methods
    • Welding safety practices and Hot-work Permit requirements
    • Equipment Lock-Out/Tag-Out requirements
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems on production line equipment
  • A commitment to safety:
    • Must be knowledgeable in equipment safety requirements as they apply to equipment moving and installation
    • Forklift and scissor lift safety
    • Knowledge of chemical handling procedures
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, FDA and GMP requirements as they pertain to maintenance activities at a food processing facility required
  • Solid computer skills including spreadsheet and other programs (e.g. Microsoft Office or Google Docs)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

We are hiring for the Monday - Friday second shift, beginning at 3:00 PM and continuing until production is complete. We'll also look to you to be flexible, when needed, to meet maintenance demands. Quick question for you - click here

Work Environment
Our facility is refrigerated -- production areas can be as low as 34° F. Additionally, this position entails the use of ladders and catwalks to reach production equipment and regularly works near moving parts. Employees are occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Note: Safety is paramount to us. We have implemented strict Covid-19 protocols to protect the health of our employees.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, as Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for directing and coordinating all maintenance activities and modifications on production line equipment to ensure the equipment operates at maximum efficiency. You will manage a second shift team of between six and eight maintenance mechanics, who you will develop and oversee in all aspects of the maintenance function. You and your team will work closely with other departments, especially Production and Engineering, to support production and accomplish goals and objectives.

Specifically, you will:
  • Identify training needs and ensure that training is scheduled to satisfy the identified needs
  • Promote and maintain positive relationships between intermediate levels of management and maintenance associates
  • Participate in project management activities as required on Production line equipment (conveyors, sealers, scales, automated equipment, etc.)
  • Meet daily to discuss and resolve problems relating to production equipment, discuss production line equipment, work order status, provide feedback on work status and backlog
  • Meet as needed to order parts, clarify purchase requisitions, resolve maintenance budget reporting problems, forecast spending, coordinate equipment modifications, new installations, review proposals, quotes, bids, prices, discuss production line projects and system maintenance requirements
  • Ensure that associates under his/her supervision follow all corporate safety procedures and comply with Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) requirements. Also monitors outside service people and contractor activities to ensure compliance with all safety rules
  • Assign work to mechanics in her/his area of responsibility on all three shifts, evaluates their work quality and provides timely and meaningful feedback
  • Review equipment manuals and develops preventive maintenance programs to ensure that equipment performance and reliability remains at high levels
  • Ensure that proper sanitation is performed after maintenance has been performed on all production line equipment
You will also be responsible for meeting KPI's including Total Case Incident Rate (TCIR), Overall Equipment Efficiency, overtime percentage, completion of preventative maintenance and downtime.  

While this is primarily a leadership role, you will spend a good deal of time on the floor and should be able to jump in and help ad needed.
