The Requirements
- 1-2 years of experience operating machinery in a food & beverage or similarly regulated production environment Quick question for you - click here
- At least 1 year of experience in a role requiring basic mechanical skills preferred
- Solid understanding of machine operations; working knowledge of cleaning and degreasing techniques
- Basic knowledge of computers and analytics; knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems and/or PLCs is a plus
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Safety oriented; ability to work within safety guidelines and understand efficiencies and downtime
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to be cross-trained to multitask in multiple positions
- A high school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
- Ability to read, write and speak English preferred; bilingual skills are a plus
- Knowledge of 5S is a plus
- Willingness to work 12+ hour shifts on a regular basis, including on weekends. Shifts last until the end of production (which can vary substantially)

You will work the 2nd shift, beginning at 2:15 PM.
The Role
Reporting to the Team Lead, as an Automated Machine Operator you will safely operate and maintain equipment used in the production of sustainable, healthy food. You will embrace the Company’s Manufacturing Excellence philosophy and help drive production to meet the highest safety, quality and efficiency standards. This is a key position where you will serve as a champion of line performance for an assigned production line, and a variety of equipment such as sealing equipment, a check weigher, metal detector, scales, a denester, fork feeder, and tray topper. You will diagnose and repair simple manufacturing equipment issues, partner and collaborate with a mechanic on break down analysis, and perform TPM and center lining initiatives. Additionally, you will:
- Follow good manufacturing practices, personal protective equipment requirements, and safety guidelines.
- Set up and operate all equipment on your assigned line.
- Communicate to and educate other associates for the purpose of maintaining good product quality as it enters the sealing equipment.
- Perform equipment adjustments, equipment center lining, and pre-flight start-up inspection including cleaning condensation.
- Complete basic Preventative Maintenance (PM’s) and Autonomous Maintenance (AM) tasks including cleaning, inspection, lubrication (CIL’s) and conducting proper troubleshooting as necessary.
- Verify that all TPM-based processes are executed in conjunction with the line mechanics.
- Maintain and record metrics such as production efficiency (95% +), yield standards, quality defects and overall line performance. Follow through on action plans to close gaps.
- Communicate verbally and in writing to complete downtime reporting and hourly production rates.
- Operate the Vorne Efficiency Tracking System.
- Understand and explain to associates the definition of the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Follow and maintain HACCP and Sanitation guidelines and processes.
- Perform basic root cause analysis and troubleshooting and basic mechanical adjustments like tensioning drive belts, conveyor belts, tracking belts, chains and sensors. Quick question for you - click here
- Assist mechanics with replacing automated equipment mechanical components.
- Work safely around moving equipment and conveyors in a wet environment.
- Lock out/Tag out equipment as necessary.
- Comply with SQF Regulatory Programs.
- Maintain a safe work environment and practice safe lifting techniques.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
