To be a good fit for the Production Manager opportunity, you will have:
  • A 4-year technical degree.
  • 5 to 10 years of broad technical experience, of which at least 5 to 7 years should be in manufacturing operation and/or manufacturing/process engineering.
  • 3 to 5 years of management experience. Quick question for you - click here
  • 10+ years of experience in operations.
  • Experience driving measurable operational improvements.
  • Knowledge of project management principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of TPM principles and practices is a must; knowledge of Six Sigma and DMAIC principles and practices is a plus.
  • Experience leading teams leads in processing, storing, and shipping initiatives, ideally in the food industry.
  • Experience approving plant payroll and payments for departmental materials or product purchases.
  • Experience establishing procedures for maintaining high standards of manufacturing operations, product quality, reliability and safety.
Top candidates will have a track record of success in MOST of the following:
  • Driving operational efficiencies to include yields, labor, shipping/picking efficiencies, and sanitation scores.
  • Working through functional groups to enforce productivity, quality and safety requirements in accordance with company needs.
  • Leading continuous improvement efforts, including evaluating and developing improved techniques for the control of operations, quality, reliability and safety.
  • Implementing and maintaining company operations procedures, reporting on the performance and initiating improvements for operations.
  • Organizing, coordinating and having general oversight of all production staff and activities.
  • Developing and implementing a high learning team organization.
  • Acting as a liaison with external parties on matters relating to the procurement of services and materials for the company's products.

Reporting to the Senior Operations Manager, you will oversee three Team Leads/Supervisors -- one each for first and second shift, and one who flexes and leads continuous improvement projects. You will be responsible for the management and leadership of the Bistro production area, and serve as direct contact for other cross functional departments.

More specifically, you will:
  • Manage day-to-day activities of assigned departments for first and second shift in the organization.
  • Improve processes and policies to support organizational goals.
  • Formulate and implement departmental and organizational policies and procedures to maximize output.
  • Monitor adherence to rules, regulations and procedures.
  • Organize recruitment and placement of required staff.
  • Establish organizational structures.
  • Delegate tasks and ensure accountability.
  • Establish work schedules.
  • Monitor, coach and evaluate performance for Team Leads.
  • Coordinate and monitor the work of various departments involved in production, pricing and distribution of goods..
  • Monitor performance and implement improvements to ensure quality products.
  • Manage quantity and quality of employee productivity.

At the same time, you should also ensure that the Team Leads have opportunities to develop and grow. We'll look to you to achieve goals independently. Your manager will provide input and support, but you know how to execute on your assignments.

For the most part you will find people open to positive change -- CI is embedded in our culture -- but you'll need more than just authority.
