As Dispatcher, you will: ​

To be a good fit for the Dispatcher opportunity, you will have:​
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent; an associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 2 to 5+ years of truck dispatching experience; we may consider slightly less direct dispatch experience for candidates that have deep knowledge of and experience in the trucking industry 
  • Background in transportation, including:
    • Experience with refrigerated trailers required (100% of our freight is refrigerated)
    • Understanding of the transportation network (e.g. over-the-road, broker, private fleet) preferred
    • Knowledge of commercial freight operations (i.e. fronthaul, backhaul)
  • Excellent customer service skills and experience; ability to build strong internal and external relationships
  • Solid computer skills including:
    • Google G Suite, including Gmail
    • MS Office Suite, particularly basic Excel skills
    • Transportation Management System (TMS) software experience preferred, ideally JD Edwards. We'll train you our TMS software
    • Strong keyboarding skills with the ability to collect and sort relevant data
  • Ability to understand plant KPIs (production, quality & safety)
In addition, success will require the following core competencies and characteristics:
  • A strong sense of urgency and bias for action with strong follow-up / follow-through skills; ability to thrive in a deadline-oriented environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills; proven ability to communicate clearly, timely and accurately and communicate and collaborate up and down the organization

We're hiring for the swing-shift, from 3:00 PM to hand-off to the graveyard team, Sunday - Thursday. You'll be scheduled until 11:30 PM, however, we'll look for you to be flexible in your schedule to meet demands. Working several hours of overtime each week is typical. ​

Role Overview
Reporting to the Transportation Manager, West Coast Operations, as Dispatcher, you will play a critical role in ensuring the on-time performance of outbound and CPU orders. You will confirm driver and equipment availability, proactively respond to operational challenges that arise during your shift, and coordinate and communicate order fulfillment and delivery affecting customers. 

Role Details
Daily, you'll take the pass-off from the first shift, including hot items that will require special attention, then participate in the 3:15 shift meeting, work through emails, and manage current demands along with routing and set-ups for upcoming shipments.

Specifically, you will: 
  • Ensure driver and equipment availability in order to perform on-time deliveries.
  • Communicate with the Warehouse Supervisors regarding schedule requirements.
  • Communicate with Customer Service personnel regarding all issues that impact the customer's delivery.
  • Review loading documents provided by the warehouse personnel, inform the Warehouse Supervisor and Customer Service personnel of any issues.
  • Generate packing list and ship out orders in the TMS.
  • Coordinate inbound loads with Receiving and Purchasing departments.
  • Assist drivers and outside carriers on all issues regarding the pickup and transportation of inbound loads.
  • Dispatch deliveries and pick-ups to appropriate driver/carrier taking into consideration safety, on-time performance and driver's hours of service.
  • Track driver performance utilizing all tools (Nextel, Teletrac, Security, etc.) available.
  • Verify that all POD's, trip reports DOT logs, VCR's & return forms are turned in and properly filled out or routed.
  • Update driver check calls into Dispatch/Customer Service Systems.
  • Daily supervision of drivers on duty, including accuracy of reports.
  • Coordinate equipment repairs with proper company.
  • Secure write-ups and pictures from drivers for any accidents.
  • Maintain up to date directions for all customers.
  • Communicate by email to designated associates the prominent points of your shift.
  • Build collaborative relationships with business partners.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
