To be a good fit for the Quality Assurance Technician 1 opportunity, you will have:
  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Some experience in a production/manufacturing environment, ideally in food processing.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask.
  • Solid interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively provide feedback/corrections to line personnel.
  • The ability to read, write and speak English.
  • Basic computer and math skills.
  • Self-motivation and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, diverse, team-oriented environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Reliable transportation and a track record demonstrating reliability and punctuality.
  • Bilingual skills in English and Spanish is preferred but not required.
Important: You will work in a temperature-controlled environment that is typically between 34° and 36° F. In addition, you should expect to get wet in the course of a shift. Quick question for you - click here We're hiring for the first shift, but we'll also look to you to be flexible. Typically you will start your shift between 7 and 10 AM, but you also may cover shifts starting as early as 4:30 AM.

Under the direction of the Quality Assurance Supervisor, you will join a large QA team, and play a key role supporting QA Team Leads as they ensure compliance with food safety and quality requirements. You will perform audits, test product, and communicate and document results throughout the day to ensure we're meeting all good manufacturing practices (GMP), Food Safety and Quality System requirements, and Ready Pac and customer specifications. You'll also support the Quality Assurance Department's continuous improvement goals.

More specifically, you will:
  • Follow GMP, personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety guidelines.
  • Follow and maintain HACCP and sanitation guidelines and processes.
  • Communicate (verbally and in writing) to complete required documentation.
  • Sample finished product for hold & release sampling as required by customers.
  • Prepare, log, and submit samples for hold & release tests.
  • Conduct seal integrity tests on finished products.
  • Ensure machine operators perform equipment adjustments as needed to ensure 100% compliance with seal integrity.
  • Clean / fill up equipment tank at start-up of shift and maintain tank water level / cleanliness throughout the shift.
  • Identify non-conformance, document it and report it to machine operators and production leads for immediate follow up.
  • Use the QA database to log in leaks and sample submissions as needed.
  • Ensure GMPs are maintained.
  • Maintain a safe work environment.
  • Comply with customer requirements.
  • Perform other duties as required and assigned by supervisor.

There will be a learning curve, and we'll look to you to be proactive as you get up to speed. Pivotal to your success will be your people and communication skills. You'll alert Frontline Coordinators and other key contacts when there are issues, but we don't position ourselves as "quality police." You should maintain a positive approach and build rapport with the Operators. For the most part you'll find them open to your input, but there will also be times when you need to be assertive.

The production environment is fast-paced and busy, and you'll need to monitor and be aware of many activities. Those who excel here are professional and able to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively. They are dedicated to the job and the team, are detail-oriented and go the extra mile to ensure things are running smoothly.

In addition, in order to be an outstanding QA Tech 1, you will:
