To be a good fit for the Warehouse Supervisor opportunity, you will have:
  • A bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering or another related field.
  • 1 to 2 years of supervisory experience in warehouse operations. Cold storage experience is a plus.
  • Proven strong leadership skills and experience supervising at least 15 employees.
  • A track record of leading teams to meet and exceed KPIs such as safety, productivity, efficiency, quality, etc.
  • Some experience with Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S or similar continuous improvement methods.
  • The ability to develop team members.
  • Solid problem-solving skills.
  • Basic mathematical and analytical skills.
  • The ability to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities relating to food safety, quality and production efficiencies.
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint as well as the Google Suite.
  • The ability to safely operate a forklift is strongly preferred.
Just as important will be the following competencies and characteristics:
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Solid verbal and written communication abilities.
  • A demonstrated ability to work in a team-based, fast-paced, changing work environment, collaborating up and down the organization.

You'll work in temperature-controlled areas that can be as cold as 34°. Initially you will trade off between first and second shifts in order to become familiar with people and processes on both. Reporting to the Warehouse Manager, you will be one of two Team Lead - Warehouse (our internal title for the role). You'll supervise a team of about 20, setting key performance indicators (KPIs) for Frontline Coordinators (FLCs) who, in turn, oversee Material Handlers in achieving the KPIs.

A big part of your days will go to managing continuous improvement projects, and we'll train you in methods (TPM, 5S, etc.) that are new to you. In addition, you will spend time in management by walking around, gathering input from your team, putting out fires and more. As we continue to grow, you will play an important part in identifying where we can gain efficiencies, lean out inventory, control costs, etc.

More specifically, you will:
  • Ensure the safety of all employees in the operation of equipment through proper training, enforcement of safety rules, documentation, and following proper procedures and GMP protocols.
  • Ensure warehouse operations are efficient and meeting KPIs. You'll monitor safety, quality, cost, and performance, and develop and execute action plans to address any gaps in efficiencies.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and execute action plans to ensure root causes of issues are addressed.
  • Manage warehouse and employee schedules and ensure correct crewing and de-crewing processes are being followed in accordance with crewing standards.
  • Monitor rework levels and usage in order to keep rework levels at a minimum.
  • Build people capability through effective employee relations, hiring, training and communications for FLCs and Material Handlers. Coach and mentor workforce to drive productivity, efficiencies and yields.
  • Plan and initiate cross-training of employees to expand job knowledge and add flexibility to scheduling the workforce.
  • Track KPI/costs and anticipate as well as correct trends that would compromise the achievement of financial targets. Ensure proper and accurate reporting of all daily requirements and metrics (quality, safety, schedule attainment, cost per case, etc.).
  • Manage all warehouse overhead costs to budget such as T&E, supplies, utilities, sanitation, etc.
