To be a good fit for the Manager, Customer Development opportunity, you will have:

  • 3+ years of sales communications and tracking experience with consumer packaged goods manufacturer, broker or a consulting / market research provider.
  • 2+ years previous experience in the foodservice channel.
  • An analytical mindset with the ability to work with vast amounts of data and synthesize that information into intelligence that can be acted upon by the business.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to compose and relay information throughout the team and keep key stakeholders informed.
  • A sound understanding of sales team needs and the retail landscape.
  • A proven ability to manage customer relationships.
  • Working knowledge of syndicated services (Nielsen, IRI, etc.) along with high proficiency in MS Office Suite products. Expert PowerPoint/presentation skills.
  • The ability to develop strong relationships with business partners and team members, and proactively update them on progress.
  • Excellent organizational skills, a self-starter approach and the ability to manage projects with limited oversight and proactively identify new ways to communicate with sales and track sales results.
  • The ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, adapt well to change and able to prioritize multiple work assignments.
After a few months of training, and assuming that COVID-19 restrictions have relaxed, you should plan on traveling about once a month to engage directly with customers to truly understand customer needs in order to support strategic decisions. Role Overview

Reporting to the Customer Development Director, you will be responsible for developing customer development strategy to position BFA as an industry leader. You will be part of a Customer Development Department that includes resources in channel and category management, consumer & shopper insights, and trade promotions and investments. There is one other Manager, Customer Development focusing on retail and club channels. You will focus on the foodservice channel, emerging channels and distributors (convenience stores, universities/schools, airports, vending machines, etc.).

You will serve as the conduit for sales between the channel and corporate teams from a marketing, R&D, and finance standpoint. You'll challenge the status quo, manage multiple relationships and apply a real understanding of our customers, sales team, brokers and available information to drive communications and sales success.

In addition, you'll own communication to sales and sales tracking, and manage and nurture clean and collaborative work streams between sales and corporate. This will include developing and deploying playbooks for the sales organization, reporting sales-related information and relaying KPIs to the leadership team, marketing and other company leaders. You will need to dynamic and highly motivated to drive sales through efficient and effective planning and managing. Your ability to manage multiple responsibilities, projects and priorities will be essential.

We're looking for a self-motivated, creative thinker with strong organizational and interpersonal skills. You'll serve as liaison and coordinator among multiple internal and external stakeholders. The stakeholders have important common goals, of course, but there also will be different agendas. As the "hub" driving cross-functional team to success, you will need strong leadership skills and the ability to influence and motivate others.

While the role is highly strategic, you also will need a hands-on approach to achieving goals -- you won't have direct reports. In addition, in order to be an outstanding Customer Development Manager, you will have:
