To be a good fit for the QA Tech 1 opportunity, you will have:
  • A high school diploma or GED.
  • At least 1-2 years of experience with Quality Assurance in food processing/production or related field. Quick question for you - click here
  • Work experience demonstrating reliability and self-motivation.
  • A proven ability to multitask.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to:
    • Learn quickly.
    • Work independently and in a fast-paced team environment.
    • Understand plant key performance indicators (KPIs) for production, quality and safety.
    • Excellent communication abilities, including reading, writing and speaking English.
We're hiring for the first shift. The hours are:
  • 5 AM to 3:30 PM (or whenever production is done for the day)
Normal days off will be Sunday and Thursday. We'll also look to you to be flexible. Many of the areas where you'll work are temperature-controlled; most are below 50° and some are 36°. ​

The Role

Reporting to the Frontline Coordinators, you will join a team that also includes Line Inspectors and other team members--about 25 people total. You'll support our production team leads as they drive production to the highest standards of safety, quality and efficiency. 

You will focus on performing QA in a variety of areas, and you'll also perform the duties as a Line Inspector as needed. You will monitor the chlorine and nature seal in the drip room (including apples and other raw products) and eventually get trained on post-harvest inspection. Once you are fully up to speed you will also be responsible for the daily upkeep of the shelf-life cage, aged inventory and the inspection of new products coming in to the facility. Quick question for you - click here

You will be trained in both the salad and bistro product lines. 

More specifically, you will:
  • Follows GMP/PPE, Safety guidelines.
  • Follow and maintain HACCP and sanitation guidelines and processes.
  • Understands yield standards.
  • Work safely around moving equipment & conveyors in wet environment.
  • Complete product change over tasks.
  • Weigh bowls using scales.
  • Adhere to schedules.
  • Maintain a safe work environment.
  • Conduct the following checks: bowl label, code dates, lot verification, composition, gas, seal, and temperature.
  • Comply with SQF regulatory programs.
  • Maintain a clean work area.
  • Set up and operate machines such as computers, gas machines and fish tanks.
  • Perform basic machine troubleshooting.
  • Conduct metal detector verifications.
  • Verify that product meets quality standards for size and color without having foreign objects or defects.
  • Perform equipment adjustments, equipment center lining, and pre-flight start up inspections.
  • Ensure operators are able to detect abnormalities, ability to correct abnormalities and restore functioning, ability to set optimum equipment conditions, ability to maintain optimal equipment conditions.
  • Audit production lines for USDA compliance.
  • Follow and enforce the 5S methodology.
  • Maintain tools and equipment as delimited by the 5S marking.

There will be a learning curve, and we'll look to you to be proactive as you get up to speed. Pivotal to your success will be your people and communication skills. You'll alert Frontline Coordinators and other key contacts when there are issues, but we don't position ourselves as "quality police." You should maintain a positive approach and build rapport with the Operators. For the most part you'll find them open to your input, but there also will be times when you need to be assertive.

The production environment is fast-paced and busy, and you'll need to monitor and be aware of many activities. The role calls for a cool-headed professional who can manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively. In addition, in order to be an outstanding QA Tech 1, you will:
  • Promote safety as well as quality.
  • Pay attention to details and also grasp the bigger picture.
  • Combine creativity and analytical skills in solving problems.
  • Assume ownership of and accountability for your responsibilities.
